The British menswear scene is just about to celebrate the beginning of the year in a genuine style. From 7th till 9th January the second edition of men's very own London Fashion Week will take place under the event name of London Collections: Men, to showcase British fashion brands and emerging talents.
Scheduled for the three hectic days, among others, have been: Lou Dalton, who signs her collections with a phrase "rebellious English sportswear with a strong attention to detail," a knitwear manufacturer John Smedley, the well-established Topman Design and Katie Eary - a designer of versatility defined by contradictions as she describes her aesthetics as glamorous streetwear, somewhere between Vogue and Vice.
The 3-day event will create an outlet for the Central Saint Martins graduates' parade. Among those the shortlisted include: Lee Roach, Richard Nicoll, Meadham Kirchhoff, Christopher Shannon, Khalid Al Qasimi, Shaun Samson and Jonathan Saunders.
London fashion realm will also welcome a just-launched collective of designers, writers, photographers and stylists, Hunter Gather, which is starting its creative activity with a men's capsule collection. The off scene, on the other hand, will present the Fashion East Menswear Installation consisting of diverse exhibitions of top ten menswear designers chosen by the Fashion East panel.
The collections will be accompanied by the warmly received in the previous edition YMC and Sibling shows, as well as the Vivienne Westwood collection for men.
I remember my first encounter with LCM last year. I needed to carefully restrain my excitement when watching secretly the live streaming videos at work. I really loved observing hustle and bustle accompanying the shows: editors occupying their seats, photographers catching the moments and brands' staff making sure everything was prepared just perfectly.
Perfection!
